Open Letter From Missoula Content Creator: Art Shouldn’t Be Made By Artificial Intelligence

Ahh, yes, the beauties of writing articles in 2025.

Artificial Intelligence is making some bizarre news headlines again - this time out of Australia.

Several outlets, including Vice, are reporting on an Australian radio station that's been using an AI voice in lieu of one of its DJs.

The kicker is that they fooled their listeners for 6 months.

I saw this story and decided it's time to rant.

Don't let AI ruin the arts

What's the point of listening to AI-generated content? No matter if it's a radio DJ, song, movie, video or whatever, why are we listening to content not created by humans?

AI can be fun. I'll admit that. Asking ChatGPT silly questions can be an apt source for a guffaw or two.

But the moment it begins to generate art in a spot where humans can create art is the moment I take down the computers.

Art is for humans only. I want to purchase a painting produced by a local painter.

I want to listen to a radio show or podcast hosted by a real human and not an AI voice meant to impersonate a real person.

I want to listen to music produced by people and not some crappy voice constructed by numbers and letters.

I want to read articles or books written by heart and soul instead of code.

I want to watch movies made by humans. I want to see more props made by artists instead of CGI made behind a computer screen.

I'm not saying this because I host radio shows/podcasts and write content. I'm not worried AI will take my job in the end,  but I don't want AI to be used in any artistic forms.

Keep on using it to streamline your life. Have AI organize your spreadsheets or map out your calendar. Let it help your life but don't let it suck the humanane elements out of your life.

There could be exceptions, but generally, AI content creation makes my stomach curdle.
