Meeting-Free Montana Hunting Regulations Input Needed by FWP
Zoom meetings. Teams meetings. It's become the new normal. Wouldn't it be great to share your feelings on your time?
That's the opportunity Montana hunters have to say what's on their minds to help shape upcoming season regulations. Sometimes it's easy to just blow off an opportunity like this, believing you're being paid nothing more than lip service, but Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks would really like to know what you have to say.
Montana FWP tells us that hunting regulation season-setting scoping meetings are underway around the state this month with more meetings remaining over the next few weeks. These meetings and your input are critical for Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks staff, as they work to develop regulation proposals for the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission to consider this fall.
If you missed your local meeting or cannot attend another upcoming gathering, they still want to hear from you. If you have ideas on what changes you’d like to see in the hunting regulations, you can do so by going online and filling out a short survey. The input FWP receives from both the online survey and the in-person meetings will be vital in helping craft regulation proposals.
So now is the time to let them know what you think. The survey is one simple box where you type in your suggestions. No questions about where or how often you hunt, what game animals your pursue, what licenses do you purchase, etc. Just provide recommendations you would like to see FWP consider when crafting the draft hunting regulations for the 2026/2027 hunting seasons.
Please be as specific as possible. You can also comment on ideas FWP is currently considering and discussing during the seasons setting meetings in June and July.
They will take input via the online survey through July 20. You can go to the survey page here.
Montana FWP will provide additional opportunities for public input when formal proposals are drafted for the Commission this fall.
