With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, many people are preparing their menus for the big game. One of the more popular foods for a football game is pizza.

If you’re trying to save some money this year and have picked up a pizza to bake at home from a Montana WinCo, you need to be aware of a recent voluntary recall for one of their products.

Montana is one of ten states involved in the recall, and according to the FDA, a press release hasn’t been issued for this recall, but the recall was reported on by Newsweek

What Pizza Products Are Included in the Recall

WinCo has voluntarily recalled their WinCo Foods Deli Margherita Pizza Thin Crust, Item #67279. Net wt. 17 oz. UPC 0267279 807987. This is a “Take & Bake” pizza that is sold refrigerated in a plastic flexible film as a single retail unit with a 5-day Sell-By date, and carries the Julian Codes: 12255, 22265, and 12415.

Why the FDA Classified This as a Class II Recall

The reason for the recall is that the product may contain “foreign material”, specifically metal fragments. This is a Class II recall, which is defined by the FDA as: "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
