Montana is coming out of “Dry January” just in time to celebrate the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and whatever other event you want to raise a glass of beer for. In Montana it’s easy to find any reason to raise a glass of beer in a toast.
Montanans like their beer. According to Yahoo.com, Montana ranks third in states that drink the most beer. The average American adult drinks 28.2 gallons of beer a year. In Montana, the average adult drinks 41.0 gallons of beer a year. The only two states that drink more are New Hampshire (43.9 gallons) and North Dakota (45.8 gallons).
Montana’s Love Affair With Beer
So, when it comes to beer, Montanans know their stuff. But who’s brewing the best beer in the state? That’s a question that may get the arguments started. Everyone who drinks beer has their favorite, and it may depend on where you live.

There are so many quality brewers in Montana these days that we can always find new beers to taste. A lot of brewers continue to win awards, not just locally, but at international competitions as well.
How the ‘Best Brewery’ Was Chosen
According to The Takeout, a food website that focuses on nearly all things food-related, they have ranked Montana’s “Hands Down Best Brewery” as Big Sky Brewery. They cite Big Sky Brewery's award-winning Ivan the Terrible barrel-aged imperial stout, and the amphitheater as reasons for their decision.
Now, let the arguments begin about whether their choice is right or wrong. The good news is we have a lot of beers to taste to judge for ourselves.
