As Montanans start to get their menus together for Easter celebrations this week, they should be aware of a recent food recall. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning people of a voluntary recall of a food that is used in many different dishes.

Duda Farm Fresh Foods Inc. has issued an advisory about one of their products that could pose a health risk.

The product is their 4 in/1.6oz Marketside Celery Sticks, with "best if used by date 03/23/2025" which has been sold in Montana Walmart stores.

Even though the best if used by date has already passed and the celery has been removed from store shelves, the concern is these products could be stored in freezers to be used at a later date.

The advisory has been initiated due to a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes poses a danger to young children and older and frail adults which could cause death.

Healthy adults may experience mild symptoms like high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

The specific products affected by the recall are pictured below.

Consumers should not consume this product if they have it in their freezers. The product should be disposed of properly so pets or small children can't have access to it.

If you would like more information about this recall, you can contact Duda Farms by email at foodsafety@duda.com.

As families gather this week for Easter celebrations, check those freezers to make sure you aren't using celery that can cause your family or friends to get sick.
