Montana’s Top IPAs You Need to Try This Year
A person can tell the changing of the seasons in Montana by the different beers available in the grocery stores. Walking down the store's aisles in the fall, you'll see Oktoberfest brews; in the summer you will find lighter beers like summer ales and pilsners.
If you go by what Montana breweries have to offer and what’s available in stores, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that IPAs are some of the most popular beers around. Most Montana breweries offer a wider variety of IPAs than other types of beer.
Why IPAs Dominate Montana’s Craft Beer Scene
Some of my friends and family are big fans of IPAs; they rarely drink other beers. For me, IPAs are either hit or miss. I find most of them too bitter for my taste, but they can pack a punch with a higher alcohol content than other brews. The higher the hop levels, the more bitterness can increase.
One thing I have noticed on the shelves lately is more “hazy IPA” options, which is an unfiltered beer.

Since I don’t drink IPAs often, I rarely notice when a new brand hits stores or bars, making it hard to keep track of who’s brewing the best ones.
Luckily for me and you, Stacker has been doing the research for us. They have compiled a list of Montana’s best IPAs that have shown up on the Beer Advocate’s list of the best ones around. If they are that good, maybe I will have to rethink my stance on IPAs and give some of them a try.
