Sam Adams’ New Beer Is Officially Illegal in Montana
Look, I enjoy a good brew every now and then like a lot of people. And like a lot of people, I want my beer to taste like beer.
You would think beer companies understand this but I suppose they have to try something different once in a while. Sam Adams is doing just that with a new beer and none of us will ever get to enjoy it in the state of Montana.
Sam Adams Announces A New Beer That's Illegal In Montana
For some people, beer is more than just a tasty beverage to enjoy on nice day, it's a full-blown experience. The folks at Sam Adams are doing what they can to take that experience to the next level with the announcement of a new beer that some might argue is more of a spirit than brew.
The beer is being called Samuel Adams Utopia 2025 and is not what you'd expect from a beer.

"We make Utopias to challenge the perception of what beer can be," the site says.
"This boundary bending, barrel-aged beer blurs the line between beer and fine spirit. At 30%, it’s the badass of our brewery. Its reputation puts it on every beer drinker’s bucket-list."
Why Is The New Sam Adams Beer Illegal In Montana?
The beer might be tasty to some but don't expect to get a sip here in Montana. According to the Montana Department of Revenue:
Beer over 8.75% abv may be considered liquor depending on how the beer is produced and beer over 14% abv is considered liquor in Montana and liquor must follow the distilled spirits product and labeling approval process.
This makes things complicated for Sam Adams and their new beer which boldly advertises its 30% ABV as a beer and that simply doesn't fly in Montana.

Even then, it's pretty doubtful you'd be in huge trouble with police or have to deal with any consequences outside of pouring it out. But, where something like that even happen?
