The 4-H kids have already been through a number of judging sessions, with more to come during next week's Ravalli County Fair. Of course, they've been working on their entries all year, and the animal projects will be going into Showmanship trials next week, too. Then, of course, there's the big 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction Saturday morning, September 4.

But what about the general entries? You know, the photos and the quilts and the Legos and canned goods and the baked goods. Well, Sunday, August 29th, is THE DAY. All Open Class Still Exhibits are to be brought to the Ravalli County Fairgrounds Sunday, starting at 12 Noon and continuing until 7 p.m.

Now, if you have a floral exhibit, you've got one more day before you bring 'em in. That keeps them fresher for the displays during the week. Those entries need to arrive at the Floral Barn between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, August 30. Of course, entrants already got their paperwork handled on August 13. So, it doesn't take very long to get your entry to the right place in the First Interstate Event Center. Just look for the signs that will direct you to the proper Department and the appropriate judges.

Fair Manager Melissa Seville expects another terrific group of entries. The fair is a true exhibitors' showcase with thousands of exhibits. Judging will start at 9 a.m. Monday in the Event Center and the Agriculture Barn. Open Class Dairy Goat Show is at 9 a.m. Monday and the Open Class Meat Goat Show is at 1 p.m. Both shows are in the Applebury Arena in the north part of the fairgrounds.

By the way, if you want to be in the Ravalli County Fair Parade, which is Wednesday at 10 a.m. on Hamilton's Main Street, sign up at the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce Office on East Main, right next to the Safeway parking lot. You'll need to sign a release form, but there's no entry fee and lots of different categories - from commercial floats to child novelty. It's here - Fair Time!
