This past week, I did something that I've been saying I was going to do for years: I finally bought a Nintendo Switch. Hey, Paper Mario isn't gonna play itself, you know? So that's in the mail and should be arriving for me this week, but of course, I needed to pick up a couple of games so that I had something to play when it showed up.

So this weekend, I headed to the Southgate Mall to stop by Fun Trade to see if they had anything I might want to check out - they were always a cool place to find some great deals on used games, movies, comics, toys, and a ton of other stuff. But then, as I was walking over, I noticed that the space was... empty?!

It was dark, and closed, and peering into the window I could see some of the arcade games that were still in there, and I couldn't believe it - but yes, doing some research, it looks like Fun Trade at the mall has indeed shut down for good.

That post is from over two weeks ago, so it's been gone for a little while, but as far as I know there wasn't any announcement ahead of time or anything. One day it was there, and the next it wasn't. Which stinks, man. I know it's tough out there for a used store focusing on physical media as more and more people get their games and movies online, but they had really crafted a cool environment and had a knowledgeable staff on hand.

The good news is, there's still Gamestop in the mall for your video game needs (although Fun Trade's prices were always just a little bit cheaper). And their Billings location is still open, so if you're a Missoula customer with Fun Bucks, you'll be able to redeem those at their store in-person or by contacting them by phone.

Are you bummed to see Fun Trade go? What do you think will take its place?
