Family Feud Leads to Felony Charges – Gun Discharged [AUDIO]

A family feud in the Turah area erupted at about noon on Monday, April 21 that led to a gun being discharged and three people in custody on felony charges.

County Sheriff Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said on Monday afternoon that the incident began when a woman tried to borrow a vehicle from a family member.

"This was a disturbance that had gone bad between a sister, a brother and a boyfriend," Pavalone said. "The sister wanted to borrow a vehicle but there were some items inside that she wanted to retrieve and her brother didn't want to let her borrow them."

Pavalone said at this point the violent confrontations began.

"Then, an argument ensued, a pipe was swung at a person, and subsequently all three of them ended up going to jail after her brother had discharged a shotgun," Pavalone said. "So, it turned out to be a situation between family members and a brother-in-law, but luckily, no one was hurt."

Pavalone explains the felony charges.

"The brother-in-law who swung the pipe has been charged with felony assault with a weapon, and for the person that discharged the shotgun, disorderly conduct for him and his sister for fighting, as well," Pavalone said. "All three will appear in Missoula Justice Court on Tuesday afternoon."

Pavalone said several Missoula County Sheriff's deputies and a Montana Highway Patrol trooper all responded to the incident near Turah.
