Summer is almost here. Soon we will all be looking for ways to cool off from the hot summer sun. One of the most popular ways to spend a hot summer day in Montana is to take a leisurely float down the river. For years, simply floating a car tire innertube was the popular mode of transportation down the river. Then people began to notice floating unicorns and fancy tubes complete with their own coolers and cup holders. Now, the stand-up paddleboard seems to be a popular way to float Montana waters.

Windermere Real Estate has sponsored this fun event for nearly a decade. This year will mark the 10th annual Winderemere Real Estate SUP Cup. Offering up two races, the Recreational and Elite divisions. Recreational participants will be competing for various prizes and Elite will battle to be the top dog for the jackpot.

A fun race that benefits the Missoula Food Bank.

Not only are you going to have some fun in the sun. But, you will also be helping out the Missoula Food Bank and their Empower Pack Program.

According to the SUP Cup website

EmPower Pack Program is a program that provides food for children to eat over the weekends when they are not able to access meals at school. This vital nutrition program reaches students in 39 different meal sites in the Missoula area, Lolo, Bonner, Frenchtown, Clinton, and Alberton, ranging from preschool through high school.

SUP Recreational Division entry is $50 ($60 after 6/18)

SUP Elite Division entry is $80 ($100 after 6/17)

Its all happening on July 17th on the Clark Fork River

NOTE: The Windermere SUP CUP is capped at 400 racers, in total, with just 50 competitors in each of the Elite Divisions. All participants will be timed, with each racer assigned a specific heat. You must be 18 years of age or older to race in any division. All paddlers are required to have a USCG-approved life jacket also known as Personal Floatation Device (PFD, Type III) and helmets are recommended. Safety escorts will be in the water if needed.
