Costco was a destination for many when the coronavirus pandemic kicked into gear. Everybody was in search of toilet paper, paper towels, Clorox wipes and other essential products while we faced the stay-at-home orders. It seems like we've been pretty lucky compared to other states, when you consider store shelves aren't empty the way they were for a couple of weeks. The last time I went to Costco they had all three of the previously mentioned items in stock, and that was a month ago.

I saw a post on a friend's Facebook page today with a picture of a 5-pack of Clorox wipes. He lives in Oregon and was celebrating the fact that they were finally able to find them at Costco - TODAY! Multiple people commented on his post that they still weren't able to find any of their own! It makes me feel fortunate that in Montana we've been in better shape than most when it comes to the fallout from COVID-19.

Costco was pretty quick about taking action to promote social distancing and other safety measures against the coronavirus. They shut down their food courts, limited the number of people entering the store, made face masks a requirement, limited meat purchases, and more.

The news this week from Costco is that they're reopening food courts - with some changes, of course. They'll feature a limited menu and only takeout orders will be available. The seating areas will remain closed for now. Another change is Costco doing away with the customer restrictions. They were limiting entry to two people per membership but they've moved on from those restrictions. Masks are still required.

You'll notice a couple changes as you visit the Missoula Costco. Hopefully, it's all a step in getting back to normal as soon as we can.
