Bitterroot Community Band Serves Up Summer Sounds

After a lengthy intermission, the Bitterroot Community Band is back in action. COVID restrictions prevented performances and even rehearsals for the group this past year. Some members have left the group and new members are learning the tunes as the summer season begins...tonight!

The first public performance this year will be at the Bitterroot Community Bandshell, at Hamilton's Claudia Driscoll Park. The bandshell was built by volunteers and is used for various musical presentations during the warmer Montana months. The band is there Thursday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. for its every-other-week sunset symphony of songs. The schedule includes performances July 8, July 22 and August 5.

But, that's not all. The band of volunteer musicians will be having their annual Daly Mansion concert July 27th, which is the annual fundraiser with strawberry shortcake at intermission. The performance at 7 p.m. on the grounds of the stately mansion will have an admission charge and the strawberry shortcake is sold, too. The money helps the group buy sheet music and pay for traveling gas.

The band will also be at the Stevensville Creamery Picnic August 7, at Tuesday at 12 noon performance at the Ravalli County Museum lawn August 12 and at the Ravalli County Fair's KLYQ free stage at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 4. The band will have rotating conductors this summer. The leaders of the band will be Amber Greymorning, Zack Paulus, Willi Prince, Tommy Dobberstein and the original Bitterroot Community Band conductor Gary Gillette. Come listen to the band!
