Wind caused growth in the Bear Creek Fire on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest Monday afternoon. The Tuesday morning report said an infrared flight Monday night put the fire size at 7,442 acres. The southeastern corner was very active, but crews put out spot fires and secured a fireline along the 1883 road. Meanwhile, work is continuing to complete a line from the 515 road to the Continental Divide. There are over 400 people on the firelines.

The public is advised to avoid the area due to heavy fire traffic. The Lemhi Pass Road is closed from the Montana Highway 324 junction to Lemhi Pass. The two water scooping planes are using the Clark Canyon Reservoir, so people using that lake are advised to use caution when the aircraft are around. Tuesday, weather conditions will be closely watched with possible lightning expected.
