20 year-old Zakai Houck is in the Missoula County Jail charged with attempted deliberate homicide after a drug related shooting in which the victim was shot in the head and then dumped on Ancabide Lane in Upper Miller Creek.

Court documents indicate that Houck and a woman, identified only as G.T. who is Houck’s girlfriend and the mother of his child, picked up the victim in her vehicle and drove to Wal-Mart where a drug deal was supposed to occur. The victim, who was not named, asked to be taken to an ATM to get money for the drug deal, but did not have enough. While in the Wal-Mart parking lot, Houck allegedly shot the victim in the back of the head.

Following Houck’s orders, G.T. drove up Miller Creek Road and used the roundabout to head up Upper Miller Creek Road where Houck told her to pull into Ancabide Lane where he dumped the victim’s body onto the street.

G.T. then drove them to her apartment where Houck disposed of his and G.T’s clothing. Later, a friend of Houck’s picked him up and drove him to the Salish Kootenai Reservation.

He was arrested by Lake County authorities on a probation violation on Tuesday and held for the attempted deliberate homicide charge out of Missoula.

Houck was transported to the Missoula County Jail where he will appear in Justice Court via video at 2:30 p.m.

According to the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, the victim remains in St. Patrick Hospital in critical condition.
