The Adventure Cycling Association based in Missoula will hold two of their annual events at once later this month, due to restrictions of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Events and Outreach Coordinator Eva Dunn-Froebig provides details.

“They'll both be held on the last weekend in September, which is September 25th through the 27th,” said Dunn-Froebig. “We want people to go out on a one night bike adventure for Bike Travel Weekend, or just explore any parks and public lands that they live near for a day ride, which is typically what we want people to do for Bike Your Park Day.”

Dunn-Froebig said Adventure Cycling is working harder to make biking excursions closer to home due to the COVID problem.

We want people to go out on a one night bike adventure for Bike Travel Weekend, or just explore any parks and public lands that they live near for a day ride, which is typically what we want people to do for Bike Your Park Day.

“We're starting to focus more on shorter bike adventures because not everybody has time to ride their bike across the country or go on a even a week long bike trip,” she said.  “So that's one reason why we started these events like Travel Weekend and Bike Your Park Day. That’s where we provide resources and connect people who live in the same area who love to travel by bike, or maybe they've never done it before, but they're curious about it, and they can connect with somebody who has a little bit more experience than them.”

Dunn-Froebig provides contact information for those who want to learn more about cycling in general and Adventure Cycling in particular.

“To find out more about Bike Travel Weekend, Bike Your Park Day, or to sign up for one of the rides or to create your own ride, one should go to Adventure Cycling dot org forward slash bike weekend,” she said. “Everybody who participates and who signs up for a ride is actually entered to win a Salsa Cutthroat bike and will get a really cool sticker in the mail.”

In the past four years, over 85,000 people have participated in more than 8,300 rides for Bike Travel Weekend and Bike Your Park Day.
