5 Ways to Show Love to Your Grandparents
September 9 is National Grandparents Day. If you are lucky enough to still have a grandparent who is alive then you should take this day to celebrate with them. I only have one grandparent left, so I know how precious and short the time can be to enjoy them. I know we all have busy lives, but taking a little time to appreciate the ones we love, especially our grandparents, is always rewarding. Here are a few ways you can show that special grandparent just how much they mean to you.
Make a phone call – If you can’t see your grandparent today, then give them a call. It may not seem like much to you, but it will mean the world to them.
Send a card – If your grandparents are like mine, they don’t quite get technology. Most of their lives were lived when snail mail was king, so there is nothing they like better than a card with a hand written note inside.
Listen – Most older people love to talk about the past and how things used to be in the good old days. You don’t have to know the right things to say, all you have to do is listen.
Cook a meal – Prepare a meal for your grandparent at their residence. No matter where they live, they will enjoy a home cooked meal that they don’t have to cook themselves. They will also enjoy the company too.
Snapshot – Give them a framed picture of you or your entire family. This is especially nice if you don’t see each other very often. Grandparents love to brag about their families to other grandparents, so this will give them even more to brag about.
