Last year was the first time I made New Year’s resolutions. I managed to keep one of the resolutions I made. I’m hoping this year that I will be able to keep them all, but I know that usually doesn’t happen.

This year I decided to get a little help from the Internet when deciding what New Year’s resolutions I would make. It seemed that the more I looked, that most people want to change the same things about themselves or their lives. Here are some of the most popular resolutions people make, and the ones I will be attempting to keep this year.

    Get organized

This will probably be the hardest resolution for me to keep. Every year I try to be more organized, especially when it comes to filing and keeping any sort of paperwork organized. I seem to do okay with organization of groceries and food, but even with that, I would love to be more organized. My goal would be to be one of those moms who has a weekly menu plan, or even a monthly menu.

    More family time

What parent doesn’t want this? It seems that the bigger your kids get, the faster the years go by. If only there was a pause or a rewind button. Who wouldn’t love to rewind their moody teenage daughter back to the sweet little 2-year-old? Or just take an exceptional day you’re enjoying with your kids and pause it, so you can savor it? This year, I’m going to try to make more time with my family. I know it’s almost impossible to find, so I’m going to have to just make it.

    Vacation

The save more, spend less resolution could help me to afford a vacation this year. The hardest thing about taking a vacation for our family is finding the time to do it. We are so busy with extracurricular activities by both kids and adults that it’s hard to find time when everyone is free to go somewhere together.

    Save more, spend less

This is such a hard thing to do especially when you have kids. Whey your kids are little there are so many cute clothes for them to wear or toys to buy them, and as they get older it seems there is always extra money to be spent on extracurricular activities. I’m not going to keep my kids from doing the things they love just to save a few bucks, but I will try not to eat out after their games, or put them on teams where they don’t travel as much or as far.

    Eat healthier

Last year was the first year I have been successful at following through with this resolution. Every month I would substitute one not so healthy thing for something that was a little bit healthier. For example, I switched my family from white bread to whole wheat bread. I’ve found this is the easiest way to keep this resolution. This year, I plan on continuing to make my family a little bit healthier too.
