Missoula Police were called to the Poverello Center on Sunday for a report of a man fighting with staff members of the center.

Police found 51 year-old William Gilmore, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, in an altercation with two men. While being arrested, he assaulted two police officers. At justice court on Tuesday, Missoula Deputy County Attorney Mark Handelman asked Judge Landee Holloway for $25,000 bail.

"When officers arrived, he lunged at them both," Handelman began. "After they cuffed him, he tried to kick one of the officers, and then violently headbutted one of the officers in the face. His criminal history is quite extensive. He has two felony criminal mischief convictions, and two misdemeanor criminal mischief convictions. There are nine disorderly conducts, a PFMA, two thefts, three assaults, five criminal trespass, criminal contempt, public intoxication, harassment, carrying a concealed weapon, tampering and obstructing. There are nearly 20 more charges. Multiple warrants have been issued for his failure to appear. This defendant is a flight risk and a risk to the community."

Judge Holloway set bail at $25,000 and remanded Gilmore back to the jail. His next court appearance will be October 24.
