April is National Poetry Month; a time to celebrate William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson and al the other great poets we all learned about in the classroom. On the extracurricular side though, why not try a young adult book in verse?

You shouldn't expect much rhyming in these tales of heartbreak and other struggles, but you can enjoy expert storytelling broken up into stanzas filled with emotion. And, as an added bonus, these are all super quick reads.

We rounded up 17 of our favorite YA books told in verse for 2017's National Poetry Month to help get you started. Scroll through the gallery above, and let us know which ones are your favorites in the comment section below.
